Julia Morgan Discovery Weekend Package

Architect Julia Morgan designed nearly 700 buildings in her 48 year career. She was one of the most prolific architects of the 20th century. Her best known work was a job for William Randolph Hearst―Hearst Castle.

 Celebrating with the statewide, Julia Morgan Project 2012, California State Park units – Asilomar State Beach & Conference Grounds and Hearst State Historical Monument have teamed together to offer an Julia Morgan Discovery weekend package, November 2-4, 2012.

 The Discovery Package includes a 2-night stay at Asilomar in a historic lodge designed by Julia Morgan beginning Friday Nov. 2nd. On Saturday, Nov 3rd, a chartered bus will take you to Hearst Castle for an exclusive tour, followed by a catered-wine dinner back at Asilomar Saturday night. Historian and Julia Morgan scholar, Karen McNeill, will be the guest speaker at the dinner event. Sunday morning, Nov 4th, Asilomar State Park staff will escort participants through the Asilomar buildings designed by Julia Morgan highlighting the architecture and park’s history.
